To create a gate we first make the frame, then fill or cover it with the infill lumber (typically 1x6 tongue and groove boards). Gates are sized to four feet wide and six feet high. Taller gates can be ordered. Gates wider than four feet will require support (steel frame or wheels) to work properly. Mostise Joinery Style Gate
Mortise Joinery Style Gate In the Mortise Joinery style gate the uprights and cross members form the frame of the gate. Each part is cut to fit then joined with glue and stainless steel fasteners. Both the front and the back of this style gate are equally attractive. In the illustration to the right, both the top and bottom sections have solid infill of tongue and groove boards. More decorative infill, including custom joinery, cutouts, decorative metal infills, etc. are available.
